SWK-3024 Social Work Practice with Families and Groups

The overall content of the social work major practice sequence focuses on developing knowledge, skills, and values to function effectively as a generalist social work practitioner. This course in the practice sequence focuses on building knowledge, skills, and values related to the social work processes for planned change using engagement, assessment, planning, implementing (interventions), evaluating, terminating, and follow-up in working with groups and families. Using social systems, strengths, and empowerment perspectives, families and groups are viewed within the larger social context with emphasis on cultural competency and strategies for addressing the needs of various group types and structures and family forms.
