Associate of Arts in General Studies (AA)

  1. Complete the appropriate preparatory/intervention course sequence as designated below if conditionally accepted.
  2. Complete 60 semester hours of approved course work numbered 1000 and above, including all of the courses in the Associates in Arts General Education Core.
  3. Complete at least 30 semester hours in residence, of which at least half must be numbered 2000 or above ("in residence" means courses taken at MVNU, in seat or online, as well as via institutions with whom the University has agreements).
  4. No more than 12 semester hours in courses numbered 3000 or above may be counted toward the 60 semester hours required for graduation.
  5. Within the major, earn no grade below "C-" (or higher, if the department requires a higher minimum grade) in all required courses, including cognate courses, and in the minimum number of electives hours required. For most majors, earn a minimum GPA of 2.00 in the required courses for the major. Consult the major course listing in the appropriate department section of the Catalog for guidance on any variations.
  6. No minors may be attached to the AA degree.
  7. Prior learning documentation from vendor courses (e.g., StraighterLine) is limited to fewer than 15 hours.
  8. Earn a cumulative GPA of at least 2.00 in all work taken at MVNU.
  9. Pay all expenses in the Student Financial Services Office.
