NURS-7406 Didactic/Clinical I: Introduction to Family Nurse Practitioner Role and Lifespan Care
Didactic: Overview of the FNP Role. Definition and scope of practice of FNPs key responsibilities, including health promotion, disease prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. Collaborative approach in healthcare teams. Lifespan approach to healthcare; Importance of addressing health needs across different age groups. Recognizing developmental stages and associated health challenges with the process of incorporating family-centered care into practice.
Clinical: Skills are developed related to health promotion, diagnosis, and management of common acute/chronic health problems of women, children, adolescents, adults, older adults, and families. This course included didactic lectures as well as 260 hours of a precepted clinical experience in the outpatient primary care setting. Includes 260 direct clinical hours.
