Proficiency Examinations

Proficiency examinations are used to measure exceptional preparation in high school or independent study. The grade for credit by examination will be shown as EM, which assumes a level of achievement at least equal to a grade of C. Examinations may be taken only by students who are degree candidates. The number of semester credit hours and conditions under which a proficiency examination may be written are determined by Academic Affairs under policies established by the Faculty.

Information about available proficiency exams can be found at https://mvnu.edu/admissions/on-campus/undergraduate/prepare/course-placement/.

The maximum number of hours by examination that will apply to the 120 semester hours required for the bachelor’s degree in a traditional undergraduate program is 30 semester hours.
