EDU-2122 Language & Literacy Fundamentals
This course explores the fundamentals of language and literacy with emphasis on the acquisition of language skills from birth through adulthood, what neuroscience reveals about brain development for spoken, written, and oral language, academic language demand, and the role of cultural influences on literacy. A focus of the course will be to prepare teachers of reading and writing to have knowledge of foundational content in the study of multiple literacies, family literacy, literacy learning, as well as typical and atypical language development.
