SWKR-6103 Culturally Competent Practice
This course prepares students for social work practice in a world that is full of diversity. Students will learn how culture can affect the helping process, which will include learning about differences in the perception of help-seeking between Western and non-Western cultures. Students will also learn how cultural diversity affects the assessment process and how racial, ethnic, and cultural attitudes can influence work with a client. Attention will also be paid to unique factors influencing the helping process with specific racial and ethnic groups.
